Amnon Silverstein

Welcome to my field of broken links! I’ve been too busy to keep my pages very up to date, but I’ll fix some things today (12/9/2009).

My most important activity has been being a dad. I have a really cool son who just turned 5 years old. His mother, Jen Liu, and I have been working really hard on giving him a happy and educational childhood. He is very interested in all things pirate. He likes music, and we have been practicing piano. His piano skills are starting to get ahead of mine, so I will need to practice more too! Jen is better at the piano, and she takes him to his lessons every week. He likes skiing, and Jen and I are looking forward to another good season of skiing up at Lake Tahoe.

Jen and I have been married for almost 10 years. She is super smart and highly talented. She is a world traveler. Last year she discovered Dublin, so this year our little family is all going to travel together to see it. In the past, we all went together to the Bahamas, New York City, Cancun, lovely Detroit, and many other places. Eli loves to travel, but mainly because he likes to be in hotels for some reason. I think it is because we are all together in one room the whole time. He is happiest when he is with “mommy and daddy both.”

Jen works at the famous Google, and she works a lot. I work at NVIDIA as a chip architect. I am also an R&D scientist, engineer and inventor. In the past, I’ve worked at HP Labs and Micron (Aptina) Imaging. My main specialty is imaging, but I also do robotics, mechanical engineering, optics and user interface. I have 26 issued US patents, a PhD from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Oberlin College.

Jen is very sporty, and she loves to play volley ball. I am not very sporty, but I do like to ski and I taught both Jen and Eli how to do it. I also have fine bowling skills which I hope to pass on to Eli. I collect hobbies as a hobby. I’ve been learning how to play the drum kit. After two years of extensive practice, I am almost as good as a normal person who just picked up the sticks this morning. I love Lego and I did a lot of engineering work on Lego, building clocks and other things. Eli and I play with Lego together. I love digital photography. I’ve built a camera from Lego, did lots of architecture and algorithms for Micron and NVIDIA, and shot many photos with my Canon.
